What we collect, and why.

Reading MENA Gamer tells us nothing about you. We only learn something when you choose to write to us — through a form, or by asking to write for us — and we use it for that and nothing else.

• No cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers. Our pages load nothing from other companies. The fonts and images come from our own server.
• Server logs. Like every website, our web server records each request — including your IP address and browser — in standard logs kept by our hosting provider, to keep the site running and secure.
• On your own device. If you install MENA Gamer or read it offline, your browser keeps copies of the pages you have opened so they load without a connection. If you close the “Install MENA Gamer” prompt, your browser remembers that. Neither ever leaves your device.

Our forms — contact, press, jobs, studio support and registration, contributors, talent and the Majlis — ask only for what they need: usually your name, email address and message, and sometimes your studio, city or country.

• Why: to read your message and deal with it.
• Also recorded: when it was sent, and the IP address it came from. We use these only to protect the forms from abuse.
• Where it goes: by email to the MENA Gamer inbox for that form, run by our email provider, Microsoft 365. A copy is also kept on our web server, so a message is never lost if email fails.
• How long: until we have dealt with it. Then we delete it.

• What: your name, email address, a username, a note if you add one, and your password — stored only in a form that cannot be turned back into the password.
• Why: so an editor can decide on your request and reach you. Your name becomes your byline on anything you publish. Your email address is never shown on the site.
• Also recorded: the IP address of sign-up requests and failed sign-ins, to stop automated guessing.
• If your request is turned down, it is deleted straight away.
• Once you are signed in, your browser holds one cookie, used only inside the writers’ area to keep you signed in. It is deleted when you close your browser.
• Photos you upload have hidden data — including the location they were taken — removed before they are published.

We do not sell or rent anything you send us, and we do not add you to mailing lists. The only other companies that handle it are the two that run the site for us: our web hosting provider and our email provider. We disclose information only where the law requires us to.
